Different students have different learning styles; some
prefer hands-on experiments, and others like to have material
explained to them. Traditional engineering education is
most effective for students whose learning preferences match
the curriculum.
The COLLAGE project is developing and evaluating technologies
to allow the Web to supplement traditional courses and labs
by presenting information in a form tailored to student
learning preferences. These include peer
editing software for document markup and educational
applets for teaching properties of materials.
